You’ll work in a large, highly available environment where stability and process matter:
enterprise Linux/UNIX administration
tooling/automation exposure
virtualization
secure systems
production service management (ITIL/ITSM style)
And yes — you’ll need to be comfortable with 24/7 coverage, mainly Canadian hours.
What You Must Bring (Desirable Skills)
8+ years administering RHEL, SuSE, Solaris in an enterprise environment
Solaris 10 and AIX knowledge is an added advantage
Tools exposure:
SuSE Manager, Foreman, Puppet, Satellite administration
Strong Linux/UNIX services knowledge:
DNS, DHCP, NIS, FTP/SFTP, SSH, SMTP (Sendmail/Postfix), Apache, NFS, MySQL, X11, VNC, SNMP, IBM HTTP Server (IHS), etc.
Experience with:
HP hardware
VMware / vSphere VM administration
Strong troubleshooting with structured fault analysis
Performance analysis using relevant tools
Secure systems implementation + BCP awareness
Comfortable working under pressure and in highly available environments
Strong interpersonal and team communication skills
Availability for on-call and flexible 24/7, primarily Canadian hours
Responsibilities (What You’ll Actually Do)
Attend weekly team meetings and drive action items to closure
Perform system monitoring/management and regular health checks
Follow Production Service Management processes:
Incident / Change / Problem Management
Help gather availability/resilience stats and support reporting
Maintain and update:
operational policies awareness
Production Risk Register
Coordinate with:
Internal Audit
Security / BCP teams
Support primary on-call requirements (immediate response, 24x7 availability)
Good-to-Have
Cloud certification (added advantage)
ITIL/ITSM knowledge and service management process exposure
