We’re looking for a Systems Deployment Engineer to lead hands-on infrastructure deployment for Google Distributed Cloud (GDC) and air-gapped environments. This role is ideal for candidates with deep experience in Linux systems, data center operations, racking/cabling, and Kubernetes deployment. You’ll work alongside engineering and operations teams on advanced network, hardware, and cloud-native implementations.
🔧 Key Responsibilities:
🛠️ Infrastructure & Data Center Setup
• Rack, cable (fiber/copper), terminate, and install equipment: switches, storage, firewalls, HSMs
• Deploy and configure air-gapped cloud solutions (e.g., Google Distributed Cloud)
• Implement and manage Operations Center (OC) infrastructure and monitoring tools
• Validate cable performance with testers and diagnose physical layer issues
🌐 Networking & Systems Integration
• Manage VLAN, subnetting, and IP addressing configurations
• Troubleshoot hardware/software issues across servers, storage & switches
• Firmware upgrades/downgrades for compute and network gear
• Collaborate with teams to improve deployment automation processes
☁️ Kubernetes & Virtualization Support
• Deploy/manage Kubernetes clusters on bare metal or VMs
• Work with KubeVirt, Service Mesh, and PKI solutions
• Utilize scripting tools (Python, Bash, Shell) for automation and monitoring
✅ Minimum Qualifications:
✔️ Bachelor's in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent practical experience
✔️ 5+ years with Linux systems, hardware deployment, and infrastructure management
✔️ Experience racking/staging servers in data center environments
✔️ Familiar with fiber optic (LC, SC) and copper cabling (Cat5e/6/6a)
✔️ Solid understanding of Kubernetes, IP networking, VLANs, routing, VRF
✔️ Troubleshooting skills across hardware, HSMs, and networking
✔️ Proficiency in scripting: Python, Go, Shell, Java, or .NET
✔️ Singapore Citizen/PR with CAT 2A security clearance
🧠 Preferred Expertise:
➕ Knowledge of KubeVirt, VMware vSphere, and service mesh architectures
➕ Familiarity with Cisco switches, VxLAN, routing protocols
➕ Experience with tools: Fluke testers, light sources, power meters
➕ Understanding of structured cabling standards & rack cable management
➕ Data center safety, electrical safety, and working at heights certifications a plus
