Job Purpose
The Digital Technology Lead identifies, evaluates, and prototypes emerging technologies to determine technical viability and business relevance for Shariah-compliant banking. Working closely with business users and the Head of Digital Innovation, you translate complex technology concepts into functional, secure solutions that improve products, services, and internal efficiency.
What You’ll Own (Key Accountabilities & Outcomes)
1) Tech Exploration
What you do: Research frontier tech (GenAI, DLT, stablecoins, etc.) for banking relevance
Deliverable: Curated backlog of technologies ready for experimentation
Challenge: Separating real utility from market hype
2) Ideation & Testing
What you do: Partner with internal users to identify pain points solvable by new tech
Deliverable: Roadmap of high-impact use cases with clear business value
Challenge: Translating technical jargon into business outcomes stakeholders understand
3) Feasibility Testing (PoC/MVP)
What you do: Build/oversee PoCs and MVPs (hands-on) using the right stack/partners
Deliverable: Working prototypes proving feasibility before big investment
Challenge: Integrating experimental tech with rigid legacy core banking systems
4) Architecture & Compliance
What you do: Ensure solutions meet Shariah principles + IT security standards
Deliverable: Secure-by-design, Shariah-compliant-by-design solutions with documented logic
Challenge: Adapting decentralized/automated tech (e.g., smart contracts) to specific requirements
5) Tech Advisory
What you do: Serve as technical consultant to the Head of Digital Innovation
Deliverable: Feasibility reports and partner recommendations that reduce technical debt and increase ROI
Challenge: Keeping pace with fast-moving global tech shifts
What You Must Bring
6–10 years experience in software development / technical architecture
3+ years specifically working on emerging technologies
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / Software Engineering (or related)
Finance experience is an advantage; Islamic finance exposure is a strong plus
Certifications are a plus (not mandatory)
