🧠 SENIOR ITSM DEVELOPER (OTOBO / OTRS)

This is not an ITSM admin role.
This is for hands-on OTOBO / OTRS developers who customize the core, build packages, migrate legacy systems, and keep large-scale ticketing platforms performant and stable.
If you’ve worked deep inside Perl, OTOBO internals, ITSM modules, and high-volume environments, this role is for you.
🎯 WHAT YOU’LL OWN
You will lead the design, customization, extension, and optimization of large OTOBO / OTRS installations supporting complex ITSM processes.
🔥 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead customization & extension of OTOBO / OTRS
(OTRS 8 / 10 / 11 and OTOBO 10 / 11 forks)Develop custom packages, Perl modules, GenericAgent jobs, ACLs, Dynamic Fields, Process Management & ITSM modules
Perform deep core modifications using safe override techniques
Build front-end enhancements using JavaScript, jQuery, and OTOBO DTL
Develop and consume REST / SOAP APIs for ERP, CRM, CMDB, monitoring tools
Implement & customize ITSM modules:
Incident
Problem
Change
Service Asset & Configuration Management (CMDB)
Service Catalog
Migrate legacy OTRS → latest OTOBO while preserving custom logic
Tune performance and optimize databases (MySQL / MariaDB / PostgreSQL) for high-volume ticket systems (1M+ tickets)
Collaborate on HA setups, clustering, Elasticsearch / OpenSearch integration
Write and maintain technical documentation, deployment scripts, unit & integration tests
🧠 MANDATORY EXPERIENCE (NON-NEGOTIABLE)
✔ 3–4+ years hands-on OTOBO / OTRS development (portfolio or references required)
✔ Expert-level Perl programming (OTOBO / OTRS architecture & internals)
✔ Strong knowledge of OTOBO / OTRS framework internals
✔ Advanced SQL & database design (MySQL / MariaDB / PostgreSQL)
✔ Proficiency in JavaScript, AJAX, jQuery
✔ Experience integrating with REST APIs, LDAP / AD, SSO (SAML / OAuth)
✔ Strong understanding of ITIL / ITSM processes
✔ Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines for OTOBO deployments
⭐ STRONG ADVANTAGE
Contributions to OTOBO or legacy OTRS GitHub repositories
Experience with Znuny, ((OTRS)) Community Edition, or other forks
Elasticsearch / OpenSearch experience
🎓 QUALIFICATIONS & SOFT SKILLS
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / Technology or related field
Strong problem-solving and debugging skills in production environments
Excellent communication skills (technical → non-technical)
Self-driven, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently
