IBM PureApps Engineer – Own, Automate & Optimize Mission-Critical IBM PureApplication Systems (Kuala Lumpur)

We’re hiring an IBM PureApps Engineer to design, deploy, automate, and optimize enterprise workloads using the power of Patterns of Expertise, virtual system templates, and high-availability cloud appliances.

What You’ll Own & Lead:

System Administration & Platform Control

• Install, configure, and maintain IBM PureApplication Systems (W1500/W1700).

• Manage compute nodes, management nodes, IP groups, cloud groups, and shared resources.

• Perform health checks, monitoring, and troubleshooting across the entire PureApps stack.

• Own system security, access control, network configurations, and patching.

• Execute backups, failover testing, DR planning, and environment upgrades.

Application Deployment & Lifecycle Automation

• Deploy and manage virtual application instances & virtual system instances via PureApplication patterns.

• Build, modify, and export virtual templates, images, and patterns of expertise.

• Configure middleware: IBM WebSphere Application Server, DB2, Apache, Tomcat, and related components.

• Automate deployments using Python, Bash, Jython and PureApps scripting.

• Troubleshoot end-to-end application and middleware issues inside the PureApps fabric.

Performance, Optimization & Reliability

• Monitor and optimize performance across virtual systems, middleware, and infrastructure.

• Analyze logs and metrics to identify bottlenecks before they become outages.

• Ensure efficient use of compute, storage, and network resources inside the PureApplication cloud.

Collaboration & Support

• Work with developers, architects, and infrastructure teams for smooth deployment cycles.

• Provide L2/L3 support for critical systems and join on-call rotations.

• Maintain documentation, procedures, and knowledge bases for all PureApps operations.

What You Bring to the Table:

• Deep hands-on experience with IBM PureApplication Systems or similar expert integrated systems.

• Strong Linux/Unix administration background.

• Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware, PowerVM).

• Solid understanding of networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs).

• Knowledge of storage architectures (SAN/NAS/DAS/RAID).

• Scripting expertise in Python, Bash, Jython.

• Middleware administration skills — WebSphere App Server, DB2, Apache, Tomcat.

• Strong troubleshooting, performance tuning, and DR/HA knowledge.
